Jeff Goldblum is an American actor and musician. He has appeared in some of the highest-grossing movies of this era like Jurassic Park and Independence Day and more.
Early Life and Career:
He was born Jeffrey Lynn Goldblum on October 22, 1952, in West Homestead, Pennsylvania, USA. His father, Harold Leonard Goldblum was a medical doctor and major in the U.S. Army in World War II, whereas his mother Jane Goldblum was a radio broadcaster who later ran kitchen equipment and appliances sales. He has a sister Pamela and an elder brother Lee.
His other older brother Rick died at the age of 21 in 1971. He belongs to Russian and the Austro-Hungarian Empire ancestry. He grew up in a Jewish family. Talking about his academics, there is no proper information about his educational background. He studied and started his career at the age of 17 in Neighbourhood Playhouse and made his Broadway musical Two Gentlemen of Verona.
Jeff Goldblum’s Professional Career:
He made his movie debut in the 1974 film Death Wish portraying a home-invading thug. He had several minor roles in different movies and TV shows. Eventually, his leading roles came in the films like The Fly in 1986, Jurassic Park in 1993, Earth Girls Are Easy in 1988, and more. His supporting roles include in films like Invasion of the Body Snatchers in 1978, The Big Chill in 1983, Independence Day in 1996, and others.
For his role in The Fly, he was awarded a Saturn Award for Best Actor. For many years, he was the voice of the U.S. Apple commercials and advertisements for the iBook and iMac. Furthermore, he has taught acting at Playhouse in North Hollywood along with Robert Carnegie. In the drama film Adam Resurrected, he appeared as the ringleader to a group of Holocaust survivors after World War II.
Overall, Goldblum has starred in many TV series like the 8th and 9th seasons of Law & Order: Criminal Intent as Zack Nichols. He directed the short movie Little Surprises which gained the nomination for the Academy Awards for Best Live Action Short Film.
