Jeremiah Rivers is a former American basketball player. He is known as the son of the famous head coach of the Philadelphia 76ers and older brother of Austin Rivers.
Jeremiah Rivers’ Early Life and Education:
He was born on July 27, 1987, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA. He is the son of the former basketball player and present coach Doc Rivers and his mother Kristen Rivers. Jeremiah is the oldest son and has three younger siblings, Austin Rivers, Callie Rivers, and Spencer Rivers. He belongs to African-American and possibly French heritage.
Regarding his academics, he graduated from Winter Park High School, Florida. Eventually, he joined Georgetown University prior to attending Indiana University.
Jeremiah Rivers’ Professional Career:
He started his career when he played for the college basketball team at Georgetown University. After his graduation from the university, Mega Vizura signed Rivers from Serbia in August 2011. He played for the team for a year when he injured his ankle in January 2012. He missed the remaining 2011-2012 season because of the injury. During his time, he played 14 games, averaging 6.2 points per game.
After his recovery, he participated in the 2012 Las Vegas NBA Summer League where he played for New York Knicks. He scored an average of 3.5 points and 1.8 rebounds in four games. Soon after, he decided to retire from his basketball career and move on to a different path. His father, on the other hand, is currently the coach of the Philadelphia 76ers.
Moreover, Doc has coached for many basketball teams including Los Angeles Clippers, Orlando Magic, and Boston Celtics. In 2000, he was honored with the Coach of the Year award for his first year with the Orlando Magic. His brother, Austin currently plays for the Denver Nuggets. Prior to that, he played for New York Knicks, Houston Rockets from 2018 to 2020, Washington Wizards in 2018, Los Angeles Clippers from 2015 to 2018, and New Orleans Hornets from 2012 to 2015.
