Kim Wayans is an American actress, comedian, activist, producer, writer, and director. She is also known for being a member of the Wayans family of entertainers.
Kim Wayans’ Early Life and Education:
She was born on October 16, 1961, in New York City, New York, USA. She was born to a supermarket manager father Howell Stouten Wayans, and a homemaker and social worker mother Elvira Alethia. Kim grew up with her five brothers, Marlon, Shawn, Keenen, Damon, and Dwayne, and four sisters, Vonnie, Deidra, Nadia, and Elvira. She grew up as a Jehovah’s Witness.
Kim attended Seward Park High School. Furthermore, she graduated from Wesleyan University.
Kim Wayans’ Professional Life:
Kim Wayans began her professional career when she appeared in the 1986 film Cathy portraying Charlene Andrews. Likewise, she appeared in I’m Gonna Git You Sucka in 1988 and Don’t Be A Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Hood in the Hood. Both of the movies were directed by her brother Keenen. Her starring role came in the art movie Talking about Sex and later co-starred as Latisha Jansen in Juwanna Mann.
Furthermore, she along with her siblings starred in the Fox American sketch comedy In Living Color and in the movie A Low Dirty Shame in 1994. Her other TV works include the TV sitcom In the House and a recurring role on A Different World. She also worked as a story editor for the sitcom My Wife and Kids. In 2008, Kim along with her husband Kevin Knotts co-wrote a children’s book series Amy Hodgepodge, about a multiracial girl adjusting to a public school after homeschooling.
In 2011, she had a supporting role in the film Pariah depicting a mother struggling to understand her 17-year-old daughter. For the role, the 2012 Black Reel Awards nominated her for Best Supporting Actress, however, she lost to Octavia Spencer for the movie The Help.
