Peter Sarsgaard is an American actor. He is most notable for his role in the 1998 movie The Man in the Iron Mask as Raoul and John in Boys Don’t Cry.

He was born on 7 March 1971, in St. Clair County, Illinois, USA. He is the son of an Air Force engineer John Dale Sarsgaard and his mother, Judy Lea Reinhardt. Peter grew up moving from place to place because of his father’s profession. As a kid, he always wanted to be a footballer but suffered several concussions and shifted his interest in acting.
Likewise, he attended Fairfield College Preparatory School in Connecticut. Furthermore, he enrolled in Bard College in New York, and then after two years, he attended Washington University in St. Louis. He graduated with a degree in history.

Peter Sarsgaard began his career when he appeared in the feature film Dead Man Walking in 1995. Likewise, he appeared in several other movies before getting critical recognition after his depiction in the movie Boys Don’t Cry in 1999. His first leading role was in the movie The Center of the World in 2001 and since has appeared in numerous cinemas like The Dying Gaul, Flightplan, Jarhead, Lovelace, Blue Jasmine, Black Mass, and many more.

Peter Sarsgaard is a married man. He tied his knots with his long-term girlfriend Maggie Gyllenhaal. Maggie is a famous actress and also the sister of the actor Jake Gyllenhaal and the daughter of Stephen Gyllenhaal. The couple dated for a long time before finally announcing their engagement in 2005.
After four years of their engagement, they finally walked down the aisle on May 2, 2009, in a very intimate wedding in Brindisi, Italy. Together, the pair has two beautiful daughters Ramona and Gloria. The two live a very cheerful and loving life in Brooklyn, New York. They seem to be very happy having each other in their lives and are very ideal for each other.
